What did you think of Dale Jr's high-speed cameo in Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's new video? (Unsolicited comments so far have a theme we hear quite often: "would have liked it more if there was more Dale Jr.") So, conceding it's not four minutes of only Dale Jr., what did you think?
The cameo was shot in Monaco immediately following the Loudon race, and was supposed to be a top-secret project until the single, "Show Me What You Got" was leaked via the internet and instantly became the number one requested radio track. Suddenly, the video - which also co-stars Danica Patrick - was rushed for a world-wide premiere yesterday (Monday). It was shown on the hour, every hour on BET and on MTV's TRL and Sucker Free shows before being shown at halftime of ESPN's NFL Monday Night Football.

THE CARS: The most curiosity seems to be "what were those cars?!?!" The black car driven by Dale Jr. is a Ferrari F430 (base price: $168,005) and Danica is wheeling a silver Pagani Zonda (designed to mimic the curves of a naked woman. Base price: $400,000 with a Mercedes-Benz AMG 12-cylinder engine and dedicated to the legendary five-time World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio.) |
But that's not all... Carter has also signed on as co-Brand Director for Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser Select beer. In conjunction with the video shoot, A-B also shot segments for 30- and 60-second commercials, which also began airing during last night's NFL game and will be seen during the MLB playoffs and many other broadcast outlets. You can catch very brief glimpses of Junior during the spots as well...
Jay-Z is currently on a worldwide tour to promote awareness for the world's water crisis. You can also see MTV's related "Water for Life" site... His new album, "Kingdom Come" will be released Nov. 21.
This is the sixth major music video Dale Jr. has appeared, and adds yet another example of the diversity of his appeal. Junior has also appeared in music videos with Sheryl Crow, Three Doors Down, O.A.R., the Matthew Good Band and Trace Adkins. |
