An emotional Monday night trying to comprehend the horrific Virginia Tech tragedy while still physically drained from the surreal weekend in Texas. From touch-down to take-off, it was almost non-stop. It began Thursday night with a special One Night Stand with Dale Jr. to unveil the new paint schemes to a crowd consisting of a large group of troops. Then, Friday's storms provided a scare for everyone and a Sunday raceday that was wild from start to finish in ways no one could have predicted.
Maybe I'm going overboard with the FilmLoops, and you may have seen one or two of these images before, but click "Watch the Show" for a much larger view and a more readable version of the captions. As usual, the good shots are from the great guys at HAROLD HINSON Photography, and the cheesy ones are my own.

Sidebar: Congratulations to Sebastien Bourdais and the Newman/Haas/Lanigan team on a third-straight Long Beach Grand Prix victory. Some perceived my comments regarding Sebastian in last week's blog as being a slam on the three-time defending champion in the Champ Car Series. Nothing could be father from the truth. I was informed Sebastien had just signed autographs for 100 inner city kids before I came across him in the paddock - and my intent was to point out how sad it is that such a brilliant driver went relatively unnoticed before the race - and how a once glimmering series now struggles for an identity. My bad for poorly constructing my original example. |
