The new COT interior: designed for driver safety. And apparently ideal should NASCAR choose the option to finally race in the rain. Or in the ocean.
A surprise entry from the folks at Nissan and their "Nismo" high-performance division... still awaiting the final configuration and NASCAR approval. The fab shop has been busy. But, mad props for the nice spinners.
The Ford COT - apparently going away from the Fusion and moving to the Mustang nameplate. Their engineers were testing some experimental exhaust systems. Very innovative. Barely aerodynamic. Most expect NASCAR to outlaw the system, thus eliminating the final visual element allowing fans to tell any difference between a Chevy, Ford, Dodge or Toyota.
A new Nextel Cup team - using the Herbie-the-Luv-Bug number scheme. In an abridged version of the former Roush 'Gong Show,' the team alternated drivers each lap with a rotating cast including Mike Skinner, Bill Elliott, Jac Haudenschild, Hurley Haywood, Michael Schumacher, John Force, Brent Sherman, Valentino Rossi, Shige Hattori and Dan Burke- 2006 champion of the Golden Benny Karting League. Still looking for a sponsor so the team can afford to purchase regulation NASCAR-spec Goodyear Eagle tires and Weld Wheels.
No one was injured, but it was crazy conclusion to the test when Denny Hamlin and Dale Jarrett crashed in a moment of spite in a delivery vs. delivery incident. Could this be a preview of bad blood for 2007? Jarrett blamed the accident on frustration from a 12-minute pit stop to change six tires, combined with an inadequate braking system to stop the four-ton truck.
I often bitch about being single, but perhaps I'm being hampered by the "one bad apple" theory in the dating pool. Or, is that eight bad apples? Ladies - some of us can actually dress nicely. Occasionally.
The fun begins about one minute in, but you'll enjoy one of the unexpected benefits of an engine which revs to 20,000 rpm and uses modern technology to control revs...
