Mac OS X Internals

Just got this in the mail. Simply baffling. In a very good kind of way.

UNIX In a Nutshell

~ 800 pages of UNIX reference goodness. Covers all important strands of UNIX giving a thorough rundown on the most important commands with plenty of examples. More than a

The Practice of System and Network Administration

I just started with this one. It's a platform-agnostic look at system administration. Have found some really good practical info from it already.

Mac OS X Tiger for Unix Geeks

The title says it all. This is a book on OS X for Unix Geeks. So for me, while still a great read, maybe not that useful. Should've gotten the other book instead... "UNIX for Mac Geeks"... or something like that.

Beginning Regular Expressions

This one's actually not that good. It's big tome that basically goes through a lot of "beginning" examples using a bunch of different tools. There's a lot of MS Word in this on too... :P Should've gotten "Mastering Regular Expressions" instead. Luckily I also have my "Regular Expressions Pocket Reference" which has been a godsend.

The Official Blender 2.3 Guide

This one's basically a collection of all the tutorials you can also find freely online (eg mediawiki.blender.org) but having them in one place, printed on paper is very handy. The language is pretty bad in some parts of it though. Luckily you can improve it yourself.

APTS: Final Cut Pro 5

I'm really glad that this book exists. You can use it to study on your own or as course material for both learning and teaching. Extremely well-written, easy to follow and with a great DVD. This doesn't replace the User Guide tho (1868 pages) so get your pencil and mark down the correspoding UG pages!

Teach Yourself Perl in 21 Days

It's been a while since I've touched this one. Although the title sounds fantastic, I think it might actually be correct.

Revolution In the Valley

The only problem with this one's is that it's not autographed! ;)

Understanding Exposure

A wonderful book for any photo enthusiast. Basically built up of photos that the author then dissects. Answers some burning questions - like what to meter off and what parameter to use for exposure setting (since they all "do the same thing").

Complete Digital Photography

I made the mistake of getting this one *after* I had bought my camera. A shame since a quarter of it has some very nice and practical advice on choosing the right camera. Even so, this has proven to be a very useful book. The binding's kinda crappy tho...

The Cathedral and the Bazaar

Hackers & Painters

Written by Paul Graham. Just a really good read. Also has some very nice info on doing business for geeks...

MacTech Magazine

This is a great resource for anyone seriously interested in Macs. I remember picking one up in '99 and not understanding anything. :) But now I wonder why I didn't subscribe sooner...

Cocoa Programming

"One book to rule them all"

Computer Security Basics

Pretty much useless by now.
