A Look Back...

The Francis Howell Central Spotlight Players
Troupe #5743 of the International Thespian Society
A Division of the Educational Theatre Association

Founded on November 5th, 1997, Francis Howell Central High School in St. Charles, MO was proud to welcome the start of ITS Troupe #5743. Originally founded as "Francis Howell Central Theatre," bringing life to the stage began with the classic children's tale of "Charlotte's Web" under the direction of Mr. Tim Clayton. The stage, being hand built by the members of the production, was located in what is now the Band room of FHC. Due to the fact that the auditorium itself had not yet been constructed, each show for nearly three years was held on the makeshift stage.

"...We constructed the stage with our own hands. It was a point in which the cast and crew really came together as one." -Christy Pinz, Former Troupe Member

In late 1999, the newly built theatre was officially opened with the grand premiere of "Noises Off!" From that point, other marvelous productions such as "Fiddler on the Roof," "Antigone," and "Oklahoma!" had truly brought the personal connection to reside within the troupe. For the next several years, the great shows performed allowed many to experience the honor of Thespianship and their place within the organization.

Then in 2004, the troupe experienced a vast change in the theatre's management. After the sudden resignation of the troupe sponsor, technical directors Ms. Sharon King and Mr. Steve Bohning stepped up to the plate to assist the students of the organization in organizing their next show. With the help of many faculty and staff members, the spring production was accomplished without a hitch.

"...It is the struggles that make it interesting... We go on not only knowing that we can get through them, but seeing that we can strive through them." -Andrew Kern, Former Troupe President

Then, in the 2004-2005 school year, Troupe #5743 was proud to welcome Mr. Stephen Kimball as the troupe sponsor. Bringing the theatre a revamp in its opperations, the students were enabled the ability to perform shows that far exceeded the high school level. With this ability, the troupe also was proud to announce the organization with its new name, "The FHC Spotlight Players." The troupe looks forward to the events to come in working with Mr. Kimball, and are ready to start again.
