We may live to see a Europe with a 20% Muslims population -- that is without using an army!!! Add Turkey to the mix and you have a significant Muslim EU voting block. With miniscule European Jewish representation, what will happen to European support for Israel? What will happen to Europe's cooperation with the US in the war on terror? What happens when this major percentage of the population insists on Islamic courts to resolve disputes involving Muslims? What happens to the Danish cartooning industry?
The Persians in LA: When the Islamic nut-jobs deposed the Shah in Iran in 1979, there was a dramatic brain drain from the Islamic Republic. Every Westernized, moderate, intelligent, educated, secular or Jewish or Zoroastrian person in Iran fled to the West -- many ultimately settling in sunny LA. They brought with them their education, work ethic, and family fortunes. They may not have assimilated as enthusiastically as say the Italians or Irish (who came to the US voluntarily as opposed to refugees), but they have assimilated nonetheless. Their children are Americans, just with a good tan. They even prefer to call themselves Persian-American as opposed to Iranian (which they concede has a negative connotation in the US). They are a very successful immigrant community, because they were the creme of the crop back home. Look at Iran now -- It is all Compton and no Beverly Hills, because everyone from the Iranian Beverly Hills now lives in Encino. I'm glad to have them. Iran's loss, our gain.
Sexual assaults in the US: For you to take that Islamic web site's statistics at face value and as a legitimate argument re the treatment of women is sad. There are so many rapes in the US, because it is against the law and they get reported. American daytime television (like Ophra) seems to encourage everyone to report that they were raped -- even when they weren't. Did you read the Islamic Q&A about that poor little Muslim girl who accidently broke her hymen and was fretting over telling her fiance. She was afraid that when he found out his wife was not a physical "virgin" he would chop her head off!!! Imagine how these people would react to an allegation of rape. No thank you, Islamic women keep it quiet and rapes go unreported. And given the overall treatment of women in their community, I'm sure it happens plenty often. Let's not even talk about honor killings and circumcising clits so they cannot enjoy sex. For Muslims to criticize how we treat women is comedic. Like most everything in the USA, you have freedom for both good and bad. Women can dress like tramps or they can dress prudish (or like my wife respectably attractive). You have the freedom to dress like a whore, but if you do so in the wrong time and place in the wrong crowd, you might get treated as one. This is not rocket science, and you don't need to shroud a women from head to foot to avoid getting raped.
Why are you so quick to validate criticism of AMERICA. What happened to you when you were here? Were you hassled by the cops (if so, what did you do to deserve it?). You keep going on about how you can drink your European Piss Warm Beer in public, as if you cannot in the US. But Mike Bell and I got very drunk in public at last year's Rose Bowl game (amazing football game by the way). No one hassled us. I don't understand what freedom you think I have been deprived of. At the same time you accept criticisms of America based upon its excessive freedoms (gun violence, rapes, etc.) Which is it? Are we too oppressed, or to free?

I also agree that the Islamic religion is horribly antiquated or "medieval" as you say. There is actually a "moshe" (mosque) just a block away from where I live here in Vienna. I see on a daily basis women wearing veils, curtains, bedsheets, etc. and I truly feel sorry for them - still living in the dark ages.
However, I am in no way intimidated or worried by their presence; rather, the christian immigrants from the former soviet republics and their criminal activity (black market goods, drugs and theft) are a legitimate concern.

raped or have been faced with attempted rape at some stage
in their lives.
More than half of the women who are
raped are under the age of 17.
PERHAPS these
numbers are not totally accurate but, before Americans
start pointing fingers at how atrocious Islam is, perhaps
cleaning up their own backyard might be a good idea -
before invading others???

Again, I ask you, why does there have to be a boogie man
for America to be afraid of? I live in "Central
Europe", and the percentage of Muslims living among me just
happens to be exactly the same for you in L.A.
As a matter of fact, after Iran, the city with the highest
Persian population per capita is none other than Los
Angeles.....
There is quite a difference in numbers between "fundamental
Islamists" and say, "moderate Islamists" - the ratio
is probably similar to normal-practicing Jews and "Orthodox
Jews", for example.
I do not fear Islam taking over Europe at all.
Just another "myth" about Europe, like they drink
warm beer...
