Is this game really "collectible?" No, it is not. Every starter set and booster pack is "fixed," meaning you get the same dice in every box. It's unfortunate that the collectible tagline was used because the backlash against Magic: The Gathering and other collectible games was already rearing its beautiful head. Where can I buy this game? Unfortunately, this game is out of print. Starters are inexpensive on eBay (around $10 apiece last time I looked), or you can go to www.boardgamegeek.com and trade with someone (as of this writing, 6 users were trading their copies). What happened to the game? Wizards of the Coast, who acquired Five Rings after the inital set was released, decided to discontinue the game and its planned expansions. We have to thank Edward Bolme for at least getting out the Galaxy and Vor'cha sets. Were there other ships created other than the Enterprise-E, Borg Sphere, Galaxy and Vor'cha? Yes, but only in prototype form. You can read about them in the Battle Reports. We were lucky enough to playtest these ships with the designer. |
