Holy
Family Home Educators (HFHE) is a gathering of Catholic families who homeschool
or who support the principles of homeschooling. Our members come from
Tucson and surrounding communities.
We
strive to live out the exhortation Pope John Paul II stated in his 1994Letter
to Families:
"It is important that families
attempt to build bonds of solidarity among themselves. This allows them
to assist each other in the educational enterprise: parents are educated
by other parents, and children by other children. Thus a particular
tradition of education is created, which draws strength from the character
of the domestic church proper to the family."
Our
homeschooling is an extension of our Catholic lifestyle. We seek to train
and teach our children in the home in order to preserve the Catholic Faith.
God has appointed us as our childrens first teachers, as witnessed
to in Papal encyclicals and the Code of Canon Law. Parental involvement,
small class size, academic distinction, and protection of
childhood innocence are all reasons we choose to teach at home. Families
can choose to be as involved as they wish to be in our activities. Many
homeschoolers find that active participation in a support group encourages
them and provides many oportunities for exchanging ideas and information,
socialization, and FUN!
