More Butch

SF & Anaheim concerts

Butch Walker continues to tour, but I'm only able to catch him when he stops in California. Two of his best shows were in SF and Anaheim, and I was lucky enough to be a part of the experience!

Take a look at my googlepage for more pictures.

ButchBits3 videocast

Rich People Die Unhappy

Butch's video is pretty dark, and I guess I should've lightened it up a bit, ohwell. My aim was to figure out how to get a couple of pictures and my voice in there since the video track replaces the podcast track. Dunno if it was actually the "right" way, but it worked!

ButchBits2

My second attempt at podcasting is online and on iTunes . I think I'm sounding less doofus-like. Helps to have some idea what to talk about.

First podcast

HissyFitz and ButchBits

Gotta keep up with the cool kids. Unfortunately, the cool kids probably have something cool to talk about, while I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Created my first podcast today, with Butch Walker content, of course. Don't like how I sound, but it wasn't that easy while leaning over the desk with my face practically against the monitor of the iMac. Gotta pick up an external microphone someday. I purposely tried to speak slowly since I tend to rattle on quickly, but the effect makes me sound half-asleep.

What's your guilty pleasure?

My definition: An indulgence that wastes time and money, makes you feel a tad guilty but waaaay too good.

Some people have certain food fetishes, shopping pleasures, trashy reading preferences. Mine is going to concerts.

Living on a rock in the middle of an ocean makes it difficult to feed my habit (with the exception of the four Eagles concerts, along with The Who, Steely Dan, Motley Crue, and Elvis Costello shows that managed to stop here recently..and U2 who will reschedule later this year). I usually have to fly out to see my favorite bands or artists, but I try to keep it financially reasonable, so it's off again to California for my Butch Walker concerts!

Bought the last of my tickets today, booked my airfare to LA, and am working on the SF portion of the trip. This is already consuming me, even though the concerts are a few months away. I want to make the most of my SF trip: wine country tour, ferry ride to Sausalito, shopping, good hotel. It all adds up, but the travel costs that accompany the concerts are a necessary part of the splurge, aren't they?

The damage so far:
concert tickets: $80
airfare (2x)/hotel/car: $750
seeing Butch again: you know it -- priiiceless!

Butch's new EP

on iTunes today!

After a 10-day countdown that whipped Butch fans into a frenzy trying to figure out what his hints meant, he came out today with an EP of five mostly live songs he's covered.

He's already been trying some new songs during his present Hotel Cafe Tour, and they're being shared online. Nice how he uses his fans as beta testers :) He'll be working on two CDs soon.

Another reason to see Butch again

Gotta get better pics of us together :)

The first night we were told we couldn't take pictures while in line, so we snunk this one in.

butch_me_08.11.05(1)

On the second night we got smarter, but my camera wasn't cooperating and I was frantically urging my friend to take the darn shot already! because the staff/rent-a-cop was telling me to hurry and move on.

butch_me_400

Butch is great. He answered my questions, signed my stuff, even spoke on the phone to a fan in Hawaii when her friend (with whom I sat on the second night) asked him to.

Reliving the moments

Sifted through the hundreds of Butch pictures

I was sort of hoping that once I got to see Butch in person I'd be cured of my obsession, but it didn't turn out that way. Two brief concerts is not enough. Will definitely need to see him again...

My camera isn't the greatest for taking pictures in the evening from far distances, but I did manage to get a few decent ones from the hundreds I took over the two nights.

No extra Butch concert in LA

such disappointing news

Just found out that Butch's "secret" show won't be a go for Los Angeles. There'll be no extra full-length concert held separately from his too-brief opening gigs for Avril/Gavin at the Greek Theatre.

butch_sad

I just hope I don't miss out on his Meet & Greets after his sets. But I'll probably stand there like an idiot and not be able to mumble out anything coherent.

Two more weeks

Can barely stand it

I'm so ready to get outta here. Used to go on trips up to three times a year (before I had Rocky Raccoon), so this is tough.

And hot. And boring. And recently annoying.

Daily pics from both Butch and his legions of fans at concerts and outings are making me antsy. But I won't be satisfied with the two short sets he'll put on with Avril and Gavin in LA. He said he won't be able to stand such short performances, either, so is announcing club gigs after the concerts. His LA ones are TBA and I'm on edge waiting to hear where/when since I'm dependent on a non-BW fan to at least dump me there.

He did look like he had interesting moments in Nashville and St, Louis, partying on his way to LA! (pics taken by BW). Yeah, one of 'em is a a sweaty, half-nekkid pic. Enjoy.

I did.

Too much wine can make ya..

..drool

butch_drool_200

Yeah, that's what Butch appears to be doing with his beloved red wine, and that's pretty much the effect this newly-posted picture had on me! I know this is a passing obsession, and I know he looks kinda, um, gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), and I never cared for tattoos, but there's just somethin' about him that makes me..drool ;) For now. 'Til I get over him.

Charisma, attitude, stage presence, hell-of-a-talent..and yeah, pics like this.

Oh yeah

Pre-sale tix went on sale today

Of all days to have four meetings, back to back!! I wasn't able to get to the lab to check email 'til around 4:00 so never knew that I had received a message that internet presale tickets had gone on sale at 10:00 am!!

I'll be seeing Butch at his two LA concerts, but wish the seats could've been better, like close enough to be in the spit 'n' sweat zone. Eww. I'll live, but hope the Greek Theatre allows pathetic fans who flew across the Pacific to inch their way to the front.

Unfortunately, this will no longer be Butch's headliner tour, but his "amphitheater" tour with Avril Lavigne and Gavin McGraw. I'll be the old one there amongst teeny-boppers, the same teeny-boppers who purchased the best tickets at 10:00 am!

No concert for me on Sunday :(

I tried, really I did

It wasn't meant to be:
  • Airfare is just too high at such late notice. Last night's prices weren't too bad, but seats have filled since then and even I can't justify paying that much for a 2-day trip.
  • The Hotel Cafe's answering service isn't working properly so I can't even find out the cost or availability of the tickets.
  • sidster has a motorcycle track day early Monday morning so I would have had to be on my own.

I was so excited last night and this morning.

I am so bummed now :(

A concert in LA this Sunday?!

Should I??

Ohman. Butch just posted today that because he's "bored" he'll be putting on an acoustic concert this Sunday at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. Damn. It'll probably be a short one, and tho he's very intense and emotional in his acoustic performances, I really would love to see him in full-on rock mode. But...

Should I try to make it? I'd have to miss a day or so of work, but I have five unused personal days. Rocky will survive sleeping by himself for a couple of days. (He's my cat, for those who might think otherwise.)

Man, I remember feeling like this for Don Henley and the Eagles!!

Butch's upcoming tour list -- a disappointment

28 shows between April and Sept. , but none west of Minnesota!

It sucks to be in Hawaii. I've blogged elsewhere about how most 'decent' bands (IMO) don't bother coming here because it's just not worth it to them. I've been lucky enough to see some heavy hitters, including The Stones, The Who, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Evanescence, Everclear (tho they sucked), and several solo artists (Sting, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel) and others, mostly "old guys" when they were either on their way to Asia/Australia, or vice versa. But U2 will never come here, and apparently neither will Butch, but probably for other reasons. (Like no one will know who he is!)

He does tour a lot and is fresh from his Japan gig where they adored him and he put out a sh*tload of concerts. He'll be touring the US and Canada this summer, but nothing west of Minnesota, dammit. I was hoping he'd play in California so I could fly out to see him there.

I need a good summer concert.

I'll be seeing 3 Doors Down on Tuesday, but that's not really what I need.

I need BW.

"..I'm wide awake, and you're wide awake.."

What time is it in Japan?

None of my inquiries were answered - not about what time it is in Japan, but whether there'd be a concert in Hawaii after Japan! Aww, c'mon! There's plenty of time between now and the PA concert w/Ben Folds next month!

How to convince Butch to come to Hawaii?? Ummm...how about a new Hawaii tat? You got one in Japan; do your arms have room for a hula girl?

I'll pose... ;)

Butch Walker's Japan Tour is Over

Radio Tokyo..is off the air :>

..so this is the perfect opportunity for a Butch Walker concert in Hawaii! What better time than Spring Break?! Hey, Butch, you have a lull before your next scheduled (announced) concert in PA, and I have time on my hands ;)

Of course, no one (but I and maybe a few others) will know who you are :( Oh, but when they see you live...OMG, how could ppl help but be bowled over? The intensity, the emotion, the incredible talent. All wrapped up in a pretty hot package...
