Welcome to Barry Rowe's Home Page on the World Wide Web. I was a Chemistry / Physics teacher at Champaign Centennial High School in Champaign, IL (1980 - 1994, 1998 - 2004). I was the technology director for the Champaign schools for four years (1994-1998). I was a consultant at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in Champaign-Urbana Illinois (at the University of Illinois); authoring some of the ChemViz materials and helping design that program. During that time I served on National Science Foundation (NSF) committees and as a program auditor for NSF. During my time as an NSF expert committee member I served on Instructional Materials Development, GK-12, NIE, AAT, and Small Business committees, as well as the IMD evaluation committee. In retirement I still review proposals for a private company that helps proposal writers get funding.
Hobbies....
I really only have one.... I am in the Champaign County Sports Car Club (CCSCC) -- and have been a member for over half my life! I am the CCSCC Vice President and am a licensed SCCA Solo Safety Steward. I own three TVRs. The 1986 280i is pictured at the top along with a picture of the 1973 2500. The 2500M is running again (after 20 years undergoing restoration) and the 1986 280i is awaiting restoration. I also own a 1985 TVR 280i automatic purchased from the original owner, and a 1989 C4 Chevrolet Corvette autocross special with Z51 suspension known as the "Dart Vadermobile" since it is black and darts around on the autocross course. They are shown in the 2nd row of pictures. I am the webmaster of the TVR Car Club North America (TVRCCNA). I built a garage to store my TVRs in and to work on them. It is 36 feet deep by 32 feet wide and has 15 foot walls. You can find out more about the garage by looking at the "GarageMahol" web pages.

CCSCC, in cooperation with CIR will be holding an autocross school on Saturday, April 5 and a "TestNTune" on Sunday, April 6 at the Rantoul Aviation Center. To find out more about it, click here to download a .pdf file that includes a registration form. Or you can download a registration form alone by clicking here. To register online, click here.
CCSCC uses unique car numbers for every car at one of our events. You must use a car number unique to you to run one of our events. If you want to reserve a car number for your use, you may do so by registering your car number here. To see what car numbers are taken, please click here. There is a schedule for who can register numbers in what order. The top 10 2007 CCSCC autocrossers get first choice and can reserve their numbers until noon, March 5, 2007. Other CCSCC club members get next choice and can reserve their numbers until March 15, when the reservation system opens to all entrants. Those entrants at the Autocross School / TestNTune and workers get next choice and entrants to later events get what is left. You may request a number at any time, but it will be assigned by the above time table.
Sometimes I take pictures at CCSCC autocrosses. Here are a few pictures from the 2007 Autocross season in central Illinois. These pictures will remain for the 2008 season.
