The second meeting of the Association took place on Saturday 6th May at the Royal Mersey Yacht Club in Liverpool. |

YOUR steering committee is keen to widen the geographical base of membership of the Association and gave notice of this meeting with what was perhaps a rather tongue in cheek appeal to‘our friends in the North’. This rapidly became reality with the warmth of the welcome that eveyone who attended the meeting received from the Commodore, officers and staff of the Royal Mersey. After an excellent lunch, at tables decorated with some of the Club's spectacular silver trophies, members heard Maldwin Drummond, Chairman, reveiw progress made so far in the aims of the Association.
|
After the formal agenda, members enjoyed two very interesting illustrated presentations, firstly from Dr Nic Jedynackievwicz, Vice Commodore of the RMYC, on the history of the Club since its foundation in 1834, and then from Hal Sisk who recounted the story of the successful restoration of his classic yacht, the Peggy Bawn. It was very encouraging to welcome the Commodores and members of several clubs to the meeting, and it is hoped to expand our membership even further afield during the year. |
