Date: Spring 2002 Artifact: Decoder Ring component of Functions Unit Description: This lesson looks at how to incorporate cooperative group work with software I have written to gain a better visual understanding of how functions work. This engaging lesson, when utilized correctly in my experience, has been extremely effective at motivating students to look at "boring" functions with a great deal of curiosity. Date: October 24, 2002 Artifact: Praise Analysis Description: This paper analyzes how praise given to all students, and specifically those with disabilities, effects how they behave. Specifally, it argues that although praise is beneficail, it can only be beneficial if it is sincere; in fact, some students who are constantly praised may become "praise junkies" and unable to function without it.
