EYETOURS is a small scale touroperator founded by 3 Dutchies. We all studied anthropology in the Netherlands. We are a Dutch/Romanian company established in 2005. In 2006 we started making tours, and the first year was a great succes. In 2007 and 2008 we expanded with other excursions and hiking tours. Hundreds of tourists went on a tour with us and we got very positive reactions from most of them. Due to travelling we know the region very well, we have a more than 15 years hiking experience in Romania. We fell in love with the heart of Transylvania, roughly the area between Sibiu, Sighisoara and Brasov. Seven years ago we bought a beautiful farmhouse in the village of Valchid, just 20 kilometres of Sighisoara. We want to thank the people from Valchid for their support and friendship! Donate is an amateur photographer (portraits, nature), and responsible for the PR and design of Eyetours. She also guides tours, mainly daytrips and Biertan. She comes and hikes in this area since 1996. Roberto has been hiking here since 1992. His fields of interest are the Roma, history of Transilvania, nature in general and birds especially. He guides the daytrips and the hikingtours. Marco is our specialist in the history of the Saxons and the Saxon villages, and knows a lot about the nature of the area as well. He's been coming to this area since 1988. He guides as well the daytrips and the hikingtours. The village, surrounding villages, forests and mountains are very attractive for discovering. The rural life that people live here will remind you of the stories your grandparents told you about their youth, where people mainly depend on horse-power and live from what their land produces. Animals you still see everywhere; geese, ducks, chickens but also cows, horses, dogs and buffaloos.Time didn’t stand still though, here you find an interesting mixture between old and new, ready to discover. For a lot of travellers Transylvania is the land of myths of legends, an unknown and a little bit scary country. This image was introduced to us by novellists who had never been in this country. We can assure you Transylvania has more to offer than a search for the roots of these legends, and we want to do that with you!
