7 DAYS HIKING TARNAVE MARE.
EYETOURS arranges a 7 days hiking tour inbetween Sighisoara and Medias, in the heart of the Tarnave Mare natural reserve. You'll visit these two medieval Saxon towns as well. Everynight you will sleep in a different small pension in one of the villages, and you will walk 10 to 25 kilometers a day. The pensions are run by locals. This is a great experience to get to know the countryside of southern Transilvania as good as possible. This hiking tour is a must for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Next to that you will go to 8 fortified churches, a renaisance castle and you will feel home in the small communities that we will visit! You will meet the shepherds and the charcoalburners, you will see a beekeeper at work and see different Romania, Roma and Saxon communities. You'll be walking through one of Europe's best captured authentic rural landscapes with an impressive natural richness. Bears and wolfs still roam the forests, and it is an excellent oppurtunity for birdwatchers; rare birds as the lesser spotted eagle, the corncrake, beeeaters, hoopoes and the uralowl are still often seen on our trips and hikings.
PROGRAM;
Day 1) Arrival in Sighisoara. Diner in the restaurant with the nicest view over Sighisoara and the Carpathians. Accomodation in the old town.
Day 2) Guided tour Sighisoara, Breite oak reserve and 14 km walk to Hanul Dracula, a beautiful inn in the Tarnave Mare reserve.
Day 3)15 km walk to Cris, rennaissance castle, and Malancrav, where we will visit local artisians.You will sleep in a small pension in the village.
Day 4)25 km, nature and culture. Malancrav to Punctul B, charcoalburners and great views over the area. Chances of seeing wildlife/footprints.Copsa Mare fortified church. Accomodation in Biertan, once headseat of the Saxon bishops.
Day 5)You can choose;
A) Morning tour in the biggest fortified church of Romania Biertan, and by horsewagon to the shepherd in the afternoon.
B) A nature walk to Valchid and Saros pe Tarnave, 15 km with 2 fortified churches.You will sleep in Biertan.
Day 6) 17 km hike to Richis and Atel, 2 fortified churches, pleasant walk along vineyards and wild nature. Pension in Atel.
Day 7)Atel to Medias along the Tarnave river, diner in Greweln, pension in Medias old town.15 kilometer.
Day 8) Tour in the old town of Medias, market visit. In the afternoon relaxing in a spa with sauna, massage and hot water baths. End of the programm.
