Above and right: The two-year project has finally come to an end. The medical ship, USS Kurtz, completed the day after Christmas, 2008. Loosely based on a Jackill design for the USS Hippocrates, this ship had been a request from a close friend who is also a nurse at a local hospital. I don't typically make a big deal about the bases that I build for my models but I went a bit more ornate than usual on this one.

Above: ERTL's classic Enterprise kit renamed USS Republic. It made me appreciate the Polar Lights version even more. I had not built this kit in about 15 years and forgot how inaccurate and ill-fitting some of the parts were. I had no time to accurize it as I was hurrying to finish it in time for a convention. Instead, I was a little creative with decals, some of which came from Fine Molds' Jedi Starfighter kit. The window decals were from JT Graphics, and the UFP and Starfleet insignias are from PNT. According to the Star Trek Chronology, the UFP was officially incorporated in 2161, hence the ship's number. The final two pictures are ERTL's Vulcan shuttle Surak.

Above: Polar Lights TOS Enterprise and Klingon D-7. The next three images are all 1/1400 scale resin dioramas from Star Trek II, Star Trek III and Star Trek VI, respectively. The Starfleet kits are made by Starcraft models. The Klingon kit is actually around 1/1600 and was made by Ravenstar Studios. It is no longer available.

Above: Yet another 1/1400 scale diorama using Starcraft's refit Enterprise and two of Ravenstar's K'Tingas. When I purchased the Enterprise kit, the resin at the aft tip of the starboard nacelle was as thin as paper. I pinched it right off and immediately thought 'battle damage'. After drilling a few small holes into the exposed resin, I inserted three thin, short pieces of wire. I painted the Klingon ships with the same Model Master medium green color but with different detailing. Burn marks were applied using charcoal sticks and dry brushing. Perhaps it's a rendition of a Kobayashi Maru scenario!!

Above: ERTL's K'Tinga. A slightly darker green with subtle touches of Model Master Acryl British Crimson, Armor Sand, Euro Green, Euro Gray, and Dark Green. Decals from PNT. I hand painted the big Klingon symbol on the bottom, just followed the lines! Above: ERTL's D-7 Cruiser. Decals from PNT. Added an extra decals on the foredeck. Centered the decal on the bottom to resemble the K'Tinga. Base color is Tamiya Haze Gray with touches of Model Master Acryl Euro Green, Dark Green, Gunship Gray and Neutral Gray.

Above: One of my best if I say so myself! ERTL's K'Tinga painted as Kronos One from Star Trek VI. Won a few awards with this piece!
Above: ERTL's USS Defiant. I decided to go with Flat Gull Gray as the basecoat. I don't like it in white with all of the darker blues and grays as I frequently see around the internet.

Above: Another 1/1400 scale resin kit from Starcraft, the USS Prometheus. I did this one on request for a customer who wanted it named USS Asimov. Nice kit. Just need to fill in a noticable gap where the upper and lower secondary hulls join.
Above: Another resin Prometheus kit. This was my first one, renamed USS Zeus. I added small gun turrets on the upper saucer just for fun.
