Welcome to Phil Giunta's Plastic Galaxy!

This site is dedicated to Sci-Fi Model Building. About 80% of the models that I build are intended for sale at my dealer table. Of course, there are always some that I find myself unable to part with!

My focus has typically been on Star Trek and Star Wars but I occasionally venture into other Sci-Fi themes such as the Back to the Future DeLorean and more recently, the re-released Battlestar Galactica kits have caught my attention.

The photo galleries contain early works as well as current projects that will (hopefully) show a progression in workmanship. Other sections will showcase models on the work bench as well as the works of other local modelers.

UPDATES!

As some of you may know, I am close to having my first novel published. This is not a fan fic novel. It is a professional novel being published by Maryland based Firebringer Press. I will post more information, such as a release date, as soon as there are developments.

The title of the novel is Testing The Prisoner. It is a ghost story. Here is a blurb to summarize the story and hopefully catch your interest:

-----------------------------

Testing the Prisoner - Redemption only comes once in an after-lifetime

Daniel Masenda thought that he'd come to peace with his dark past when he left his home for a better life fourteen years ago. As the mayor of a small tranquil town along Virginia's Eastern Shore, Daniel had everything he ever wanted--unti a series of haunting visions, coupled with the death of his estranged mother, pit him against two ghostly entities at war with one another. Each has its own agenda as they force Daniel to relive moments from his violent youth and push him to the edge of insanity. As his idyllic life begins to unravel, will he be able to decipher the message behind the hauntings before they destroy not only him, but the soul of someone he left behind?

-------------------------------

In addition to the printed paperback novel, Steve and I are discussing releasing it in eBook format and also as an audio book. I look forward to the experience of recording it!

Firebringer Press is owned by long time friend and incredibly talented writer, Steven H. Wilson. Steve and his family have been involved in sci-fi fandom since the days of ClipperCon and OktoberTrek and Steve is a former con chair of Farpoint. In my humble opinion, Steve and his family personify fandom in the Maryland/D.C. area and I am deeply honored to be published by someone who has been a mentor to me since my early days of fan fiction.

Steve, who has also written for DC Comics, is the director of the award winning Prometheus Radio Theatre where he, along with a cast of talented voice actors, perform original audio shows from science fiction, horror and fantasy genres.

Steve is also the author of Taken Liberty, a novel based on the characters from his original SF audio show, The Arbiter Chronicles. Taken Liberty was published in 2006 by Firebringer Press. It is available in paperback from Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com.

You can also listen to Taken Liberty in audio at Podiobooks.com.

During the first week in May 2009, Steve announced Testing the Prisoner during a podcast on Prometheus Radio Theatre's site. The link is below. When you get to the site, find the podcast titled "Notes Following a LOOONG Absence". It is a 16MB MP3 file. It is approximately 18 minutes in length and Steve gives my book about 2 minutes of airtime between the 7 and 9 minute marks. However, I encourage you to listen to the entire podcast and then maybe download an episode or two of their audio shows such as The Arbiter Chronicles or SuperHuman Times. Give a listen, you'll have a great time!
