I saw Robert Downey Jr. for the first time in 1984 in a movie called First Born, but the strange thing is that he didn't catch my eye right then. Instead it was Christopher Collet. That changed a year later when I saw Tuff Turf with the beautifulest James Spader, and this time I noticed Robert as well. From then on I started paying attention to his career. He puts all his heart into his roles- I still cry when Julian dies in Less Than Zero and it breaks my heart to see him in Elton John's video for "I Want Love". Whoever cast him for that video is a genius and it is sad to see that someone who can convey an entire state of being just by walking is in so much trouble.
