Born in Columbia, South Carolina, John Edgar Eubanks, Jr. attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with a degree in Philosophy. While in college, Ed served as Youth Minister at a small Presbyterian church in Columbia.Also while in college, Ed married Marcie Ward. Ed finished Covenant Theological Seminary in 2005 with a Master of Divinity degree. Ed and Marcie have four children, and live in Oakland, TN where Ed is Senior Pastor of Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church. Ed is also Co-Director of Doulos Resources.
Ed began writing seriously in 1998, and published his first (very small) piece in 1999. Since then, he has written on and off, returning to his writing in earnest in the summer of 2004.
Ed's speaking career began with a training seminar in 1999, growing from there into a regular part of his literary life. "I view my speaking opportunities as an extension of my writing," Ed says, "communicating ideas that are important to me, and that I believe are important to others."
He now writes regularly for two online magazines, is a regular blogger, and contributes to other publications regularly as well. He has published Grafted Into The Vine, a booklet about church membership; For All the Saints, a book on praying for the church; Covenant Discipleship, a curriculum for church ministry; an edited and updated reprint of William the Baptist by James Chaney; and is various stages of writing and publication for several other book projects.
