My New Treadle Lathe

The original, and the new, improved treadle lathe. My name is Larry Holland, and I'm an Oldtools Galoot.

The first one had only 26" between centers and was mostly 2X4 construction.
48" between centers, with several improvements. Mostly laminated 2X6s.
With tool rack and counter installed.
3/4" cold-rolled steel with hand-filed dogs.
2-speed drive with Dayton bearings on both sides.
Adjustable idler. This was a major improvement.
Adjustable live-center on the tail stock. Another big improvement
Toolrest is a marriage of Osage Orange, Purpleheart and Black Walnut.
Detail of pitman-treadle interface. Identical on both sides.
