a funny joke ;-)All in all not a
bad night.

Woah!
Today - I bought a house - it
seemed too easy...
Finally - after looking off and on for a few
years - and seriously looking for the last six months - I bought a
house.It's a house I like - and
perhaps not suited to a lot of other people - so maybe that's why it felt like a
bargain? It's not in the suburb I live in and love now, but it's only a little
way up the road. It's a 90 year old Georgian style terrace and it's got a real
back yard! after 18 months the apartment I am living in has become to feel
really small. So no dishwasher - but a real kitchen! and it's not stainless
steel! yay. It's feels solid and comfy rather than flash and austere and I
reckon it suits me, and I it! Now I just have to wait until January before I
can start hanging things up on the walls. Christmas, birthday and housewarming
presents? Roof insulation or labour to fit same thanks! :-)

Just like an ordinary day
An annual leave day spent seeking out the sunny
bits, Harry Pottering, and watching the Tour de France. I really thought that
Ivan Blasso would get the jump on Lance today - and he almost pulled it
off...almost.

Sunday ...
Lots of lovely sunshine again this afternoon - I
finally started on cleaning up the courtyard. Whatever they have planted as a
ground cover in the planet boxes is just growing rampant. It doesn't seem to
want to stay small and controlled..so I guess I will have to find something else
to plant. I've ripped it out of one of the big boxes and the small one and
weeded most of the courtyard before bringing my icy fingers back inside to the
warmth. Maybe some flax plants would be nice? Maybe I'll have a party out
there in the summer. Shared a meal tonight - a nice Chicken Kiev and a
roumelade of Celeriac - which is the first time I've had it. Thin matchsticks
mixed with mustard mayo and nashi pear,,,yum! With lots of sprouts and lovely
carrots. A yummy ginger and lime pudding to finish...not bad!

Obie hugs
Aww - The girls and the vets really love it when
Obie boards there - it almost makes up for the guilt I feel at leaving him
there. There were two very lovely Abyssinian brothers boarding at the same time
- gorgeous looking boys but they are apparently "biters" like many Abyssinian's.
So he is especially welcome. They tell me he just lives inside his igloo, but
he moves it all around the cage. When we got home he gave me a long cuddle with
lots of purrs so I guess I might be forgiven? It's nice to have him
home.

Fiona Hall in Adelaide
So - an early visit to the Central Markets for
the fixings for dinner. I'm cooking Nonna's spag for the family tonight. Also
popped in to Coles for various supplies for the folks at home.. YoYos, Fruchocs,
Woodfords lemonade and SnoDrop. I also grabbed some Haighs chocs which I
actually left on the counter I think - cause they didn't make it home! For some
unknown reason...I agreed to attend my five year old niece's birthday party held
at one of those indoor play areas..."Snakes and Ladders'. It was horrible ;-)
Low roofed room, wet day, school holidays, red cordial and junk food....argh! I
escaped to the Art Gallery of South Australia (no kids in there!) to see the
Fiona Hall exhibition.
Fiona's
work first made an impression on me when I saw her piece " Dead in the Water" in
the NGV. The combination of coral-like pieces, beads and marine animals
captivated me. Then I "discovered" a set of her Paradisis terrestris sardine
tins on display also at the NGV. I actually happened across a poster of some
more of this series at the MCA in Sydney which I have had framed and it looks
fabulous.
Curiously,
although her work seems to be mostly for galleries and museums rather than
individual collectors, there doesn't seem to be many posters or cards of her
work.
So now I think may favourite
of her bead craft items is Cell Culture and through the fabulous companion book
I'm becoming enamoured with a collage piece called Syntax of Flowers - I wish it
had been on display.
And dinner
turned out Ok too - Jessica, Shan and Nicole all helped out and we made a great
spag bol and garlic bread with salad. Yum! oh and of course Aunty Suzanne's
Special Strawberries (choc
coated!).
Another late night
watching the tour - but I managed to sleep really well again.

Adelaide Ho!
An early start for the drive to Adelaide. I even
managed to navigate the Western Ring Road to the Western Highway...I just don't
get that road! I drove up past Strathmore to get on...I guess you can get there
from The Tulla as well - but that's just a bit too scary for
me!
Had a good run - enjoyed the
whole podcast thing except for that awful thing that it doesn't remember where
you up to when you take it out of the cradle, so you have to plan the episode
for the length of your next drive session, quite annoying really. bad decision
- sidetrip through Hahndorf - and over the ranges into thick pea soup fog! Bit
hairy coming down the hills, but I made it and arrived at the quite nice
Majestic Roof Garden hotel. Large rooms - huge bath - separate shower - and
doonas! yay! I think I found my new favourite in
Adelaide.
The standard dinner at
Stanleys for whiting with my sister, her husband and my two nieces Jess and Shan
and this time - Cinderella! It's Shania's birthday tomorrow and she got a child
sized doll a bit early!
Stupid sign
- Mount Zero 340m 340 metres!!!! that's a bloomin' bump not a mountain!
