Michigan Man Folds Laundry PatrioticallyBATTLE CREEK, MI -- Roger Niles is showing a little patriotism in the days since September 11. The Michigan man has no regrets about folding each piece of laundry in the style of the American flag. In fact, he finds it quite patriotic in his own words. Nile, 62, is a Korean War veteran who typically minds his own business according to his wife Betty who helps him fold the laundry. "I've never seen him so excited about anything. He even plays the National Anthem when he does his laundry." Some local veterans have advised Roger to fold his laundry traditionally, claiming that folding anything other than the flag in that manner disgraces the American flag and devalues the honor it deserves. Roger disagrees. "By incorporating the flag more in my everyday life, I'm just proving that I'm proud to be American." "Not all laundry makes for good flag-folding," Roger claims. "Socks and bras just can't cut it. My favorites are towels and slacks." In a feature article in the local paper, Niles encourages other to fold their laundry patriotically. "We have to show them terrorists that they can't take away the fact we're American!" Says Niles. |
