Palestinians: Terrorism Probably Bad IdeaOsama bin Laden is reported to have shown some relief this week that he isn't the only hunted man in the world wearing a turban. The Israeli military began strikes of military targets following a Palestinian terror attack on a discotheque. Missiles this week came within a few hundred feet of an office occupied by Yasir Arafat, leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization. The violence is one episode in a long history of violence between the Israelis and Palestinians. Omar Mohammed al Rahif, a public relations official with the PLO, admits acts of terrorism against Israel was pretty dumb after all the anti-terror rhetoric to surface after Sept. 11 attacks in the United States. Rahif sent a memo to PLO leaders asking them to nix terrorism from the operational plans until the whole September thing dies down. Arafat is reported to be "scared shitless" as Israel's military continues strikes on key Palestinian targets. "I guess I should have gotten the memo out sooner," Rahif said. "Some of the guys probably didn't see the memo." |
