Committee Stumping For FerrignoSAN JOSE -- A California grassroots committee began its initial work to push Lou Ferrigno into the ring for a 2004 presidential bid. The former body building champion known for his role as the big, green monster on TVs "The Incredible Hulk" could not be reached for comment. Don Gerherd, chairman of the America for Ferrigno political action committee, said the candidate would make a great president -- whether he likes it or not. "Strength and integrity are the two most important attributes a president must have," he said. "We all know we can never be too certain about integrity. This guy has enough strength to make up the difference." Gerherd and four other committee members cite Ferrigno's success in World's Strongest Man competitions as their reason for their support. "The man could haul anchors for fifty yards and squat thrust a platform with ten bikini mamas standing on top of it," said committee member DuWayne Johnsrud. "With that kind of record, he certainly has the ability to effectively exercise the delicate diplomatic balance needed forge a lasting peace between Palestine and Israel." The committee hopes to get Ferrigno on the Democratic ballot in at least 42 states prior to the spring 2004 primaries. Fund raising work is already underway. "I think Lou would make a tremendous president," Gerherd said. "Do you want to stand next to him and tell him he wouldn't make a good president?" |
