MTV to Change NameNEW YORK -- Officials at MTV Productions announced plans to change the name of their popular cable television channel. The new name for MTV is "Whatever." A press release issued by the company states that the name change is based on the fact that Music Television no longer shows music. The name "Whatever" was decided after extensive market research. Dialogue during channel changes often includes, "What do you want to watch." "Whatever," the other person states before they flip on Celebrity Deathmatch. Because the channel is no longer showing music, they will replace their annual video music awards ceremony with the Whatever Awards, which will be given to cast members of The Real World and Road Rules for whatever they do on those programs. |
