LAST STUDIO AT THE COLONIAL

The last studio at the Colonial, was our third studio

El Ultimo Studio en el Colonial

In 1996, we had to move yet again to a new studio. The building was renovated slowly, and the third floor space we had was taken by someone that could pay top-dollar, so we moved to the basement. We used to say that we were demoted. Originally, we though of the space as temporary storage. However, slowly, we began to go there and made it into a painting studio. Curiously, it was at the basement of the Colonial where we found the most artists. Allen Christian's House of Balls space was in the basement. Terrence Meter, another painter, had a studio there too. Steve Grandell "Venus" and All the Pretty Horses had their practice space there too. So, for the first time we could visit other artists that worked in the same building. It was at this space too that we had a couple of group openings.

Here are a couple of pictures of the basement studio.
