On May 11, 1996, Eric and Lynnette gave a party for Eric's parents, Robert M. and Daisy Smith, who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Laguna Hills, California.

The party was held at the clubhouse of Villa Valencia, and the guests included Bob's brother Herman and his wife Betty; Max Friedman, with whom Bob and Daisy lived in New York City just after they were married in 1946, and his wife Anne; Virginia Brewster, an old friend from Las Vegas, and her husband Willie; Jinx Cochrell, another old friend from Las Vegas; and many of their friends from Leisure World in Laguna Hills.
