Dear Sony Inc.,

I am an engineering student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am working on a research project in my technical writing class on an old portable radio. The radio is a GPX AM/FM Stereo Receiver model number A2935. The product is branded GPX on the front but also has the old Gran Prix brand name on the back label. The serial number of this particular radio is 2510181641. I cannot get a hold of a person involved in the development of this radio at this company.

I am familiar with Sony as being a large manufacturer of radios and other portable audio devices today as well in the past. Since Sony is a larger company than GPX, I was hoping it would be easier for me to contact someone working at Sony in the field of personal AM/FM radios.

I’d like to conduct an e-mail interview with you if that is possible. My questions would focus mainly on portable radios developed in the middle 1980s as well as the first portable radios created by Sony. What e-mail address would be best for me to send the questions to? Also, would it be possible to reply with any followup questions should they arise? If you wish to contact me, I can be e-mailed at ericliskay@umail.ucsb.edu or contacted by phone at 503-502-0733.

Thank you for your time. I am interested in Sony’s history in portable audio and would appreciate it if I could get the interview in some time before November 17.

Sincerely,
Eric Liskay
