The series of Bermuda still life photographs called "Wallflowers" was inspired by the interiors of the vacant and abandoned buildings whose exteriors I had been photographing. I found many walls that were abstract, surreal or that were of very subtle colour. These were ideal backgrounds on which I could isolate one or two flowers from their natural habitat in order to showcase them. I made these prints on watercolour paper using the polaroid transfer process as this gives them a softer, more painterly look in keeping with the muted colours and textures of the walls. |
