artist statement
My current work is concerned with distance and periphery. I am interested in the perception of background and foreground, in sensations of otherness or loneliness. I have, in part, been looking at the visual devices which support or surround the figure in paintings of the past and thinking about what kind of identities these non-objects might have, once isolated.
