Michael and Louise, have two aims for this trip.
To visit Rotary clubs on route.
Whilst Rotary is a service organisation, fellowship is also important to rotarians.
Raise awareness and funds for REMIT.
In the Northern hemisphere mosquitoes are a nuisance. However, in sub Saharan Africa where Malaria is a major threat to the life and well being of people, mosquitoes and the disease they spread are deadly. REMIT is raising funds for equipment, education, and research into malaria. The best intervention is to provide Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN's) for poor people. The hardest hit are children under 5 and pregnant women. Everyone benefits from malaria control, the poor benefit the most. ITN's lower malaria by 80%. It is REMIT's goal to get an ITN to every pregnant woman and child under five in Tanzania. The cost of saving a life is £2.50.
