TRANSIT A three screen video installation Transit journeys through the East End of London quietly observing the shifting architectural and social landscape. Iain Sinclair provides the pieces of a labyrinthine narrative through the sound track from which the viewer can navigate these landscapes in transition. Underneath Smithfield Market, at a juncture where the past encroaches upon the modern world, the recent two storey car park fills the old underground former meat depot. It leaves only one remaining row of the original high arched vaults, where the film was projected as part of a Measure (www.measure-arts.org.uk ) project in conjunction with the London Architectural Biennale, (www.londonbiennale.org.uk) June 2006. Transit is the beginning of a long-term film project that will be produced over the next 2 years. With Special Thanks to: Iain Sinclair Iain Sinclair has lived in Hackney since 1968.
