In the Coast Range mountains near Jewell, Oregon, my studio is on 44 acres along the Nehalem River. While it is the surrounding natural beauty which inspires me, my great reward is in sharing all this with my dog, horses, chickens, and bees.
In my New York childhood, I spent the best of it in our local woods. That joy, reverence, and wonder of nature has guided me ever since. What does surprise me is the infinite outcomes of this interplay. Therein is the motivation for me - more clay, more fire, more play.
Though trained in botany, biology, and education, I have shifted careers in midlife to be a potter.
