Method
Combine rice and water in a 3 qt. saucepan.
Allow rice to soak in water for 20 minutes. During the soaking time, add spices.
Bring water and rice to a boil. Cover with tight-fitting lid or foil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand (covered) 5-10 minutes.
Fluff with fork and remove cloves before serving. 1 cup uncooked rice makes approximately 3 cups cooked rice.
