This Star Wars page was first inspired in 1996 by an assignment in a Hampshire College class taught by Bob Meagher and Alan Hodder called "Religious Awakenings". Both teachers gave an assignment for students to bring in some kind of book that gave them spiritual or religious inspiration. I brought in the script of the end scene between Luke, Vader and the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. Just as the sacred scripts of the world's religions illustrate this eternal struggle, Star Wars is a modern depiction of good triumphing over evil in the end. It is unique in that the primary antagonist isn't destroyed, but redeemed and transformed through the hero's compassion.I then decided to take the assignment even further by developing a web site based on the Star Wars Trilogy as a religious experience. I have enjoyed working on this project, mostly because I want to share how Star Wars has inspired my imagination and search for truth.
My Star Wars page has been updated from time to time over the years and most recently its evolution has been completed to coincide with the release of the final chapter in the Star Wars saga.
