Polo: Did you hear the one about the 21 horses that keeled over and died?

Polo, like the Iditarod, horse racing and dog racing: Unncessary "sports" with tragic outcomes for animals. Animals who don't "choose" to participate. Animals who bring profit and are the only ones to pay a price.

I am so disturbed by this story about the 21 polo horses who keeled over and died one, after the other, in front of spectators at a fancy international polo event.

Today a Florida pharmacy admitted that they mixed up the "vitamin preparation" for the horses incorrectly, basically poisoning them all to death. That pharmacy has basically put itself out of business, because each of those horses were apparently worth up to a quarter million dollars to the owners.

Look, I don't have a lot more to say about this. It's wrong to exploit animals for our entertainment. And if supporters of these sports want to tell me how much the animals in question are raring to go and love to compete and living out their natural instincts, then I don't want to hear another word when I assign other emotions/thoughts to animals too...like they suffer when confined, or tortured, or slaughtered or are separated from their young etc. etc. etc.

The whole story makes me sick, and I don't know how these people can live with themselves after this.
