Government getting it right with Gustav..so far...including planning for the animals

Now, if only the levees will hold.

I am heartened to see that things are going much different for everyone, everywhere with Hurricane Gustav. We shouldn't get too relaxed yet, since of course the levees broke in NOLA after the hurricane itself had passed. It's all about the levees, and so far there's one that seems to be at risk, but in general they're not predicting the catastrophic failure of three years ago.

The local and state governments were also way more on top of evacuation orders and plans. And this year, thanks I'm sure, to legislation pushed and promoted by animal rights organizations, they had to plan for family pets too.

You can read some about it here.

I would completely freak out if I had to load my animal in a crate and a truck...registration or not, great plan for them to sup up at my destination or not.

But it's an improvement.
