Today's Transparent Talking Point

Yes, yes, I can see how over 2 decades of efforts would seem like a "rush" to dinosaurs who don't want change at all

The other night I saw a tweet form someone who was trying to sound all reasonable-like while saying something totally ridiculous, namely: That they were concerned about how President Obama was "rushing" a health care solution. And it's such a big, hairy problem they just want more thoughtful consideration.

Look, I know it's hard to believe someone would come into office (really, any political office at this point) and try to actually get done what they promised to get done, but that's what's happening.

I think that the federal government has been trying for just about my entire adult life to figure out how to fix our health care system. And it hasn't gotten fixed. And things have just gotten worse and worse for real people and real families, even real children.

The problem has always been that the Party that actually wants reform that works for more than just big pharma or the insurance companies has never had a big enough majority in Congress to simply walk on by the Party whose only goal is to be a barrier to real reform.

Until now.

So suck it up, GOP, you lost. And a big reason you lost, IMHO, is because people want movement and action on this issue...and they figured out you'd never deliver it. If you're right, the Dems (if they can have some cojones and realize what they were elected to do) will push their plan through.

And if it goes down in flames you can say "I told you so" then. Oh, and offer an alternative solution too.

Until then, shut the fuck up with your lies and obfuscation and transparent talking points about the "rush". Two decades don't equal a rush, in my book, and you sohuld stop admitting you're so shocked a politician is actually trying to do something.

And Dems? Remember and read: Bipartisanship is for suckers by Joe Conason
