Now what have I gotten myself into??

Just call me Ms. Uber-Democrat I guess!

So, this afternoon I went to the annual reorganization meeting for the Assembly District in which I live. I suppose I mostly even thought of going because the Chair of the District Committee is my web master for the SCC DP blog.

Today was the day they'd elect both new officers and delegates to the State Party conventions for the next 2 years. And, so what the hell! I threw my hat in the ring.

Of course they needed to elect 6 women, and only 6 of the women there were interested. So, it was kind of a shoo-in. So, that means i'll be going to the state convention in April.

Then someone I know from my earlier volunteer work asked me if I'd be interested in being nominated for the Executive Board position. Every district gets to send a certain number of people, and the Board is apparently the body that works on the party platform and has the other committees that organize the nuts & bolts of the Party. They meet quarterly all over the state.

If you're really interested in how a state Party works, you can see an org chart here. (I had no idea until I got home and wondered what I'd gotten myself into.)

Oh, so I guess that gives away the ending which is that I was elected to the E-Board.

I thought I was going to dial back my contribution to the Party after the election, but it really doesn't seem like that's working out too well.
