Our Broadway Theatre Orgy in September: Avenue Q

A story of four shows in three days, and the people whose butts hurt after seeing them

Day #2: Saturday September 13th
Show: Avenue Q
The Hype before the Show: Knew the least about this show...something about muppets for adults. In fact when Laura suggested seeing it, I was discouraging, but i can thank my friend LJ for telling me I HAD to see it.

Review:

It's all upside here. I LOVED this show. Having no expectations, positive or negative, and having no pre-conceived notions, I was totally swept away by the talent on display.

Okay, so there are people manipulating puppets...it's true. and there are also some people who only play live-action characters...including an actress portraying a real-life person that I won't reveal, not to be a spoiler.

This is a musical, and the songs range from laugh out loud funny to truly poignant. I mean who wouldn't admire a lyricist who can write an entire song entitled (and about) Schadenfreude????

This is like a Sesame Street for adults...delivering different kinds of life lessons (and showing puppet sex too!)

But the point is, all puppet sex aside: it had huge amounts of heart...I really cared about these characters, live and puppet, and what happened in their quest for happiness and to find their purposes in life.

Chris and I recommended it to his friends who live out there, and they saw it and loved it too. i don't know how you not love it.

It's original, inventive, unique, laugh-out-loud funny, raunchy, heart-warming. It's all good, boys and girls.
