NY Times Travel section hits the Mission

Nice starting point if you've been avoiding this part of the City

The Mission District in SF is too often associated only with the "Tenderloin"...which is about the way you'd expect with a name like that.

But for many years now the Mission has been an up and coming part of the City, and one that retains a funky, diverse vibe that must have been what other neighborhoods, like the Haight, must have once been like before Starbucks and the Gap took over every city in the US.

Today's NY Times Travel section takes a tour of the Mission, and even if you're a Bay Area native who has been avoiding this neighborhood, this article is a nice place to start.
