My 2005 Holiday Newsletter
Since everyone is doing year-end recaps, here was
mine
Although, if you read this blog there ain't none
of this that'll sound
new:==================================December
2005No, you’re not seeing things.
This is the 2nd Holiday Newsletter in the envelope. See, last year I had every
good intention. I had a newsletter. I bought the cards. Then I got some creeping
crud and lost all will to live. Or at least all will to address and send holiday
cards. As time passed, and I missed sending New Year’s cards and
Valentine’s cards…well it just seemed pointless. But I’m
back!!The Worker Bees Hive
(http://workerbees.biz or http://workerbeesblog.blogspot.com):
2005 was a watershed year for my business,
Worker Bees. I went from trying to keep my head above water to making a
comfortable living. Part of this was my decision early in the year to expand
beyond art and other non-profit organizations. I mean, God love ‘em, but a
girl’s gotta eat. I signed up many diverse clients, working with software
companies, an online store, a health care firm, a local university, a large
charitable foundation and a number of local theatres to boot. I also joined the
Advisory Board of a think tank, the Society for New Communications Research
(http://sncr.org) As part of my Worker
Bees initiatives, 5 of my 9 blogs are on behalf of paying clients. You can see a
list of all of my
blogs in the left hand side bar of the Worker
Bees web site.Meet BlogHer
(http://blogher.org):
2005 marked the year that I joined with
two fantastic women, Lisa Stone and Jory Des Jardins to form an organization
called BlogHer. To be more precise, we decided to throw a conference this past
July, focused on women bloggers, and it was so successful that we have stayed
together to form an organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for
education, exposure and community for wired women everywhere. We plan to put on
more conferences and launch a new web site to serve as the primary place to find
and interact with women bloggers. I am working as many hours as I ever did in
high-tech senior mgmt.…but what a difference a real sense of ownership and
passion makes!The Political
Front (http://sccdp.org/blog.php):
I still blog for the local Democratic
Party, and I serve on the state Democratic Party Executive Board.
