Ellen Greene at Martuni's

See this original and passionate singer in the most intimate of spaces

I've never seen Ellen Greene live before. By the time I saw "Little Shop", she was long gone. I have the album they're launching, and it is eclectic and heartfelt. I'm thinking about trying to see her second show on the 3rd, but it will have already been a rich, full day. I'm going to go see client 42nd St. Moon's production of Minnie's Boys, then bop on over to meet blogger Amy, of CookingwithAmy fame before she guest bakes with client Heather Gold in her show, I look like an EGG, but I identify as a COOKIE. So, if just say "hello", but don't stay and see the show, I could probably then make it over to Martuni's...but that's three parking spots to find in the City...don't know if I can handle that aprt of it alone!

Anyway, here's the info from the email Ms. Greene sent out to her list:

THEY’RE BACK!!!!......  LIVE AND FABULOUS!!!!

Ellen Greene and Christian Klikovits will appear at Martuni's Piano Bar at Four Valencia Street, San Francisco, on April 2nd and 3rd for the official release of their first CD, "In His Eyes."  The event will include a CD
signing on Saturday, April 2 at 2:30 -4:00  and two performances on Sunday, April 3.  Showtimes are 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

"San Francisco is very special to us because it was at Martuni's where we developed all the new material for  our CD, and Skip Ziobron (Martuni's owner) was a big help with that."

"In His Eyes" has earned rave reviews and was heralded by Playbill columnist Andrew Gans as "the solo vocal recording of the year." “one of the most entrancing cabaret performers I've witnessed in a long time... her emotional nakedness and fragility comes across in most every number... the former “Little Shop of Horrors “ star definitely wears her heart on her sleeve...”

The CD includes many songs from Greene and Klikovits' award winning show entitled "Torch,' which was declared "One of the Top 10 performances of the 2003 & 2004" by Playbill Magazine...

The Tony-nominated actress is best known for originating the role of Audrey in the off-Broadway and movie versions of the Howard Ashman & Alan Menken musical "Little Shop of Horrors."  She has also starred in numerous films, including "Next Stop Greenwich Village," "Talk Radio," "The Professional," "Pump Up The Volume," and most recently in the William H. Macy comedy, "The Cooler."

Greene will be accompanied on piano by her musical partner Christian Klikovits, a composer, acclaimed jazz pianist and published author, with Cameron Stone on cello.  "In His Eyes" is their first recorded collaboration and can also be purchased at www.ellengreene.com.
