Today's Shuffle: 1/22/05

Is it distracting to listen to a Shuffle, while trying to create a Party Playlist?

I'm co-hosting a birthday party tomorrow. The bonus part, though, is that it's not at my house. So I get the fun of planning and shopping and stuff, without the drag of cleaning my house. I got a book from my Amazon Wish List for christmas entitled: "Plan a Fabulous Party...in no time." it's by a woman on the SF WoW Yahoo group I belong to. I've always liked being the organizer and party thrower, but this book is giving me new ideas. I decided I would use its system for this party before writing my review of the book.

Today one of my tasks is to create a cool Party Playlist to play on my iPod during the party. I am doubly excited about this because I'll get to use my cool InMotion Portable dock for my iPod. (No sooner had I bought this product than I left my corporate job with office and started working on my own business at home, where all my music is playable right from my Mac.)

My only concern is whether I should, in fact, be listening to iTunes' Shuffle while I'm trying to create my own. But I will forge ahead and see how it goes.

So, today's first ten offerings from the Party Shuffle:

Lonesome Tonight by New Order
Don't Want Never by Paul Westerberg
Lament of McCrimmon/Song of the Banshee by Sheila Chandra
Last Dance by Sarah MacLachlan
Work by Jimmy Eat World
Magic by Ben Folds Five
It's De-Lovely again from the Anything Goes cast recording...what is up with that?
I Ain't Movin' by Des'ree
Heart of Mine by Boz Scaggs
Nothing Can Be Done by Joni Mitchell

I seem a little retro don't I? How many of those songs are from this decade?
