Today's Shuffle: 1/25/05

And the new album I downloaded...and what shall we call that now...they're not albums, they're not CDs?

I just downloaded Erasure's new album, Nightbird, from iTunes. And it occurred to me that "album" doesn't really seem like the right word, right? Doesn't album indicate an LP on vinyl? It was simple enough when we transitioned to CDs. You could call it a CD. (Even though really, that just refers to the media....lots of things come on CDs.)

But now, what do you call it? I'm guessing most people still just call it an album. And that seems OK. But not perfect.

Well, anyway, Nightbird has the signature Erasure sound, but sounds perhaps a little more mature, more romantic than their albums often are. There isn't really an all out raving dance number. There are numerous romantic numbers. There are even a couple of sad songs. Anyway, if you're an Erasure fan I'm betting you will like this album.

But on today's Shuffle:

Across the Great Divide by Nanci Griffith
The March of Time from the Original Cast Recording of "Closer Than Ever"
Good Beat by Deee-Lite
Love Is Gonna Bring Us Back Alive by Rickie Lee Jones
Bend and Not Break by Dashboard Confessional
If I Had a Boat by Lyle Lovett
Regatta de Blanc by The Police
Harlem in Havana by Joni Mitchell
Eireann by Afro Celt Sound System
Jam by Toad the Wet Sprocket

OK-I finally got the energy up to provide iTunes links for the ones that are available on iTunes. How much do I work it for you, my faithful readers? Take a listen.
