Advice on a question never to ask a pet-lover


Talk about ruining my evening

I went to a birthday party yesterday evening for a friend. It was a big group, about 17, and I'd say I knew less than half the celebrants. At one point, I don't recall how, it cam up that I give my cat sub-cutaneous fluids every day for her kidney disease.

And this woman I don't know asks me "why would you do that?" I said, "Because it makes her feel better." Then she asks, "How old is she?" I said, "She'll be 18 in August."

And then she asked me, "Why don't you just put her to sleep?"

Honestly.

I will give all my props to my S.O. for jumping in and talking about how well Samantha was doing, how active and spry and happy she was....like a 10 year odl :)

All I could say was, "Because she comes and sits on my chest every night if I'm watching TV, purring up a storm."

Anyway, people suck. So there.
