From Samantha's perspective

My vet reminds me of something somewhat comforting...

I've been saying that Samantha's downhill slide was so sudden, that she was really quite her usual self until little more than a week ago, that she was certainly aging and acquiring more little health issues, but that she was still a relatively happy and pampered 20-year-old. All to say that it sucked that she was ailing and gone so quickly...that it was shocking to me.

But when my vet finally called this afternoon she said something that showed there is actually an entirely different spin on that. She said:

"Well, it's really nice that she had a comfortable and high quality of life right up until almost the end."

Which was, I realize, much better for Samantha. Sucked for me, but better for her.

So here are some more pictures of her, because I realize I'm fond of the Fish-Eye photo, but there was more to Samantha than that novelty shot :)

From 2003:

Finding her spot in the sun, and enjoying a plastic bag more than the toy that came in the bag!

There were many thrones for Samantha in our home.

From 2004:

More lazing in the sun...

From 2005:

Hard at work.

And then I can see how I fell off the digital photography train, as the number of pictures I've taken in the last 2 years has seriously lagged :(

I can see that Samantha lost weight in the last two years, but really she looked about the same up until just a short while ago. And that's one healthy-looking teenage kitty, wouldn't you say?
