Purina blogs for cats (and other animals)

Perfectly highlighting the value of aggregators: the occasional post is dead-on

I think I originally heard about the Purina RSS feeds from Steve Rubel. You can take your pick among various dog and cat related feeds, from kitten to senior pet advice.

Highlighting the value of an aggregator for just about anyone who reads blogs or RSS feeds, the Purina feeds are fairly active...lots of posts; lots of questions from readers answered...it's really pretty cool when you come right down to it.

But honestly, 90% of the posts/questions aren't relevant to my cat (nearly 18 years old and with kidney disease.)

BUt with the feeds dumping into my aggregator, I can simply scan the titles and find the occasional post like: "My 17-year old cat is meowing more and more." You know what? So is Samantha.

So I clicked right through to that one.

Now because I belong to some feline kidney disease Yahoo Groups, I didn't really learn any potential causes that I didn't already know. But it was definitely good to know, once again, that this is a common issue and to be reminded what to check for yet again at Samantha's next vet appt.

If I was scanning the site in my browser who knows if I would have found that one perfectly relevant post. IN my aggregator, NetNewsWireLite as it happens, it was a piece of cake.
