Back from Vacation, and Weathering the Storm Hello all...sorry for the long absence. We had a good time on our vaction to Cape Cod with Leo and Amy. Even though it rained, we kept ourselves busy, going to P-town twice, to dinner with Leo's family in Chatham, playing endless (and rather emotionally abusive) games of Tichu, and on Tuesday we went out to Plimouth Plantation (since the last time we were there, they've started a heritage livestock program, so we spent lots of time scoping out the new critters). On the way back to break up the ride E and I stopped at the aquarium in Mystic, which is fabulous - I've got my heart set on their Beluga contact program next time we're there, and then went downtown for dinner and dessert. While I was away lots of babies made their appearance: Stella' s baby boy, Kathy 's baby girl, and Sandy and Gordon's new granddaughter. Congrats mamas! We thought this week would be a banner sale day at market with two weeks worth of produce and eggs, but Ernesto had other plans. We didn't have to worry about weather or not to go this am, as they cancelled it yesterday, which meant we could sleep in - heaven! I hope we have a lot of people looking for kale next week, as we'll have a lifetime supply :) The fall romas are ripening a bit slower then usual due to the lack of sun, but I'll defintiely be canning again this week. Gi and I are both getting ready for school. I've been in twice, and made a bit of progress on setting up my classroom and getting materials ready, though I'll still be scrambling once my class lists arrive to make seating charts, set up my gradebook and attendance, and assign books. I didn't realize that Gi's program doesn't begin till the 11th, so there will be some major scrambling next week, but I think we should be ok. She's in desperate need of warm clothes, so we'll go to the kids' outlet on Monday. No shopping today in this weather, that's for sure. Cookie baking sounds perfect though. :) I think a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip would hit the spot! p.s. Still looking for our camera - it's gone missing - but will post more pics later! .
