I'm Just Not A Jelly Person

So I took many liberties with the hot pepper jelly when I made it this week... I know, by definition, jelly is supposed to be clear but it just wasn't doing anything for me. Guess I'm a jam girl. So I upped the peppers in each jar and lowered the amount of actual jelly I put in each jar - I think it'll be prettier on crackers this way too - the original jelly portion sans peppers was a light green, and I just couldn't see serving it over crackers. We'll see in a few months how it is! I found a lost soldier when I was putting them away - sigh - one of the raspberry jams wasn't sealing properly. Oh well... win some, lose some. I've been packing pesto in the freezer like mad, and the tomatoes are pouring in. I'm not wild about making ketchup, but it was at g-ma's request, so that's the next tomato product. They're currently blanched and cooling - I'll peel and cook them this weekend. If the frost holds off I should be able to put away a bunch more whole tomatoes hot packed in water, which is what I'd really like to stock up on...

E is working with his dad till he starts with the state, and the 14 hour days in the hurricane winds and rain are making him wish he could start tomorrow. :) Oh well - having him around to drive and carry the machines is a big help to my FIL, so it's good that E has these couple of weeks to help out, at least till his back stops hurting him so much. We are supposedly going to look at some properties tomorrow - we'll see what happens. I've been reading blogs every night, but the sheer exhaustion of starting teaching again hasn't left much energy for commenting - practically propping up my eyelids just to read. It'll get better - my body just has to get used to the routine, the constant talking, on my feet all day, busy busy stuff. 125 teenagers can be a handful, even when they're good kids, as my classes seem to be so far.

OK, maybe I can find some Law and Order to go to sleep by - I miss SVU - darn tennis!
