This is why...

This is why we moved here.. cuddled up in this room of my own, I'm typing up my lesson plans for tomorrow, then daydream web-surfing about miniature cattle - my new solution for how to produce our own dairy products (including cheese and milk) without the limitations of a goat - although we could have a goat and a miniature heifer as well!

E is outside in the falling darkness, working in the barn on the nesting boxes for our chickens. Later he will come into the lighted sun-room to work on the frame of the coop itself. Keeping him company, Harri is running around the homestead, bringing his dad sticks and sniffing around the groundhog burrows - we think his dream is to actually catch one, or at least see one!

The rabbits, Lucas and Victoria, are grooming each other before they go to sleep for the night out in their hutch under the two cedar trees, munching some table scraps from yesterday. This is why we moved here.

Is this the farm we will always live on? Maybe not, but we know something important now, and know it more every day. We dreamt about this - thought this is what we wanted. And it is. I am glad to have the opportunity to affirm that so soon, and be able to pursue our dream further every day.
